High-speed high-resolution plasma spectroscopy using spatial-multiplex coherence imaging techniques

چکیده
We have recently obtained the first simultaneous 2-d plasma Doppler spectroscopic images of plasma brightness, temperature and flow fields. Using compact polarization optical methods, quadrature images of the optical coherence of an isolated spectral line are multiplexed to four quadrants of a fast CCD camera. The simultaneously captured, but distinct images can be simply processed to unfold the plasma brightness, temperature and flow fields. This static system, which is a spatial-multiplex variant of previously reported electro-optically modulated, temporal-multiplex coherence imaging systems, is based on a high throughput imaging polarization interferometer that employs crossed Wollaston prisms and appropriate image plane masks. Because the information is captured simultaneously, it is well-suited to high-spectral-resolution, high-throughput 2-d imaging of transient or rapidly changing spectroscopic scenes. To illustrate instrument performance we present recent results using a static 4-quadrant Doppler coherence imaging on the H-1 heliac at the ANU.

Molecular imaging of atherosclerosis: spotlight on Raman spectroscopy and surface-enhanced Raman scattering
To accurately predict atherosclerotic plaque progression, a detailed phenotype of the lesion at the molecular level is required. Here, we assess the respective merits and limitations of molecular imaging tools. Clinical imaging includes contrast-enhanced ultrasound, an inexpensive and non-toxic technique but with poor sensitivity. CT benefits from high spatial resolution but poor sensitivity co...
متن کاملHigh spectral resolution multiplex CARS spectroscopy using chirped pulses
A simple technique for achieving high spectral resolution coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) spectra with a femtosecond laser system is presented. A linearly chirped and stretched ( 10 ps) pump pulse generates CARS signal only when overlapped in time with the Stokes pulse (90 fs), creating a ‘temporal slit’ that defines the spectral resolution of the technique. Multiplex CARS spectra ...

A sensitive, non-destructive and highly selective method of standoff detection using coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy (CARS) is presented. The approach uses a single amplified femtosecond laser to generate high resolution (<10cm) multiplex CARS spectra encompassing the fingerprint region (400cm – 2500cm) at standoff distance. Quantitative studies of this method result in detection of 2μg...
